Normans message saying that he takes a "rear end break" every 50 miles, is what stirred me to say what I found wrong with my Savage. I hear riders are looking for a softer seat. The real problem I found is the position that one most sit in, dictated by the hollow of the stock seat. I filled this hollow with a high-density foam hunter's seat pad (also some simular stadium seat pads would work). I keep the pad from falling off with an elastic cargo net over and around and hooking into the bottom of the seat. Because the pad fills the hollow I can sit farther back and slightly lean forward. I also tilted the handle bars slightly up to help this new stance. My rear end does not get tired riding a 600 mile trip now. I still insist that the comfort comes from a better sitting position and not much from being softer!
